CENTRAL LIBRARY

                             Sri Venkateswara Medical College was established in the year 1960 along with a central library  near Physiology department.   Due to enhancement of MBBS seats year by year  and as per MCI norms a separate building for the central library was constructed in the campus and opened  on 4.4.1999 at a 3397.44 Sq.M with ground floor and 1st floor.

                        Our central library  provides the best for the students aiding them in the process of learning and guiding them in the path of their progress.  The library resources include nearly 25,000 + medical books, dissertations and more than 100 journals subscribed per year with adequate reading facilities providing an excellent ambience for the readers.  Every year the library is updated with the latest editions of books and journals.

                        The library is user-friendly and widely accessed by undergraduates, postgraduates and faculties.  Three (3) reading rooms are air conditioned and well lighted with a comfortable seating facility for (capacity of 400 UGs, 100 PGs and 50 faculties).  There is a reading area outside the library for students to utilize their reading material and group studies.

                        The central library  has a collection of national and international journals.  Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada is providing online journals and books  through NTRMEDNET besides this the National Medical Library, New Delhi is providing online journals through the ERMED consortium.

The Digital library has 25 computer nodes with internet facilities for

searching recent advances in the field of medicine.  It also provides access to e-journals and e-resources like Wiley and proquest.  The students and faculties are given access to the library's remote usage, which enables them to access  the library at any time needed.

 The central library provides the following services.

  • 12 hour service with supporting staff (from 9 am to 9 pm)
  • E library
  • Journal section with foreign and Indian journals with back volumes
  • Separate reading facility for faculty  and Postgraduates & undergraduates.
  • Medical CDs.

Every year 100 journals were subscribed as per NMC norms.  Out of 100 journals 33 are foreign and 67 were national journals.
