MISSION
- To provide tertiary eye care services to the poor and needy.
- To provide such knowledge and skills to the students that shall enable them to practice as a clinician as a primary eye care physician and surgeon.
- To train the students to function effectively as community health leader.
- To assist in the implementation of National Programme for the prevention of blindness & rehabilitation of the visually impaired.
BRIEF HISTORY
The department of Ophthalmology, S.V.Medical College, Tirupati was established in 1961 with a single unit with a bed strength of 10. The efforts made by the previous professors added the second unit in 1986. The bed strength was increased from 10 to 40 in the year 1986. At present, the department has two units with full-fledged staff and equipment with bed strength of 60. The government has recognized SVRRGGH as an EYE DONATION CENTRE in the year 2002.

In 1970 1 DO and 1 MS were started and the no of seats were enhanced to 8 MS in 2018 . at present all 8 seats are recognised by Medical council of India
HOSPITAL SERVICES:
- OPD : Daily 9:00 am - 1:00 pm, 6 days a week
- IPD : Number of Units: 2, Total Bed Strength: 60
- Emergency: Daily , round the clock.
- Cataract surgery - Latest cataract operation with latest phacoemulsification technique (No stitch) with Lens implantation free of cost.
- Paediatric cataract surgeries done free of cost under NTR vaidya seva padakam.
- Lid , Squint and Sac surgeries, conjunctival limbal autografting and other major and minor surgical procedures
- Lasers available for the treatment of diabetic eye diseases.
